December 12, 2021 - Formation Practice, Lunch at Georgetown

We've been having some good flying weather this December.  Today was yet another day of clear skies, sunny, cool but not cold, light winds and smooth air.  The plan was to do some formation practice followed by lunch at Georgetown, Delaware (now called Coasta Delaware Airport).

We had a four-ship today:  myself as Lead, Mark as #2, LJ as #3 and Joe/Chuck as #4.

Here are LJ and Mark fired up on the ramp.

We practiced formation flying over the Eastern Shore for about 45 minutes.  The wingmen had the sun in their eyes on occasion.  Then we headed for Georgetown.

Here I am entering a left downwind for runway 28 -- the shorter, narrower runway -- at Delaware Coastal.

Parked on the ramp in the bright sun with the terminal in the background.

All four RVs are visible on the ramp in this picture.

After lunch, LJ came out to find the battery dead in his RV-8.  He suspected the alternator stopped working on the flight here.  Joe tried hand-propping LJ's engine but no joy.  So LJ hopped in my RV and rode back to Essex Skypark with me.
